1. General information
An elective in the Philosophy degree that introduces the student to the reading and commentary of basic Latin texts. The class attendance is compulsory, at least for those students who opt for continuous assessment, who will have to attend at least 75% of the classes. Those who do not attend will be assessed in the final test.

1. To know, understand and master the essential grammar of the Latin language.
2. To acquire a basic Latin vocabulary and know its importance in Western thought.
3. Syllabus
I. The nominal, pronominal and verbal morphology of Latin
II. Basic aspects of Latin sentence syntax
III. Roman historiography
IV. Elements of philosophy in Rome: Stoicism
4. Academic activities
The activity in class will be carried out as follows: the linguistic subject will be presented by the teacher, who will also present the theoretical sections of Roman historiography and thought. Analysis and translation of Latin texts by the students, who are responsible for presenting their work in class. Students should read on their own Lucretius' On Nature translated into Spanish.

Final assessment test (100%).
Knowledge and understanding of the concepts; terminological rigor; clarity, presentation order and spelling correctness will be valued
Second call: Identical to the previous one.
